Overmolding metal inserts is an established practice — the challenge lies in the details. Sensitive surfaces, tight tolerances, painted or electroplated inserts: flash formation and damage caused by the mold-closing process are costly everyday problems in practice. Flash formation and surface damage are not caused by poor-quality molds — they result from insufficient sealing. Stamped parts with large fracture surfaces, stamping notches, or sensitive surfaces are particularly vulnerable. MB-Seal® prevents exactly this: reliably, reproducibly, and while protecting the mold.

MB-Seal® is installed directly in the injection mold around the areas of the insert that need to be sealed. It replaces conventional steel seals and surpasses them in flexibility and service life. The result: damage-free and flash-free overmolding, reduced rework, and more economical mold operation.

With the flexible sealing elements from MB-Seal®, metal inserts can be overmolded without flash or damage. The elements are installed directly into the injection mold and adapt precisely to the cavity — custom shaping through machining is possible at any time.

Proven for reinforced and unreinforced plastics such as PBT 30% GF, PA 30% GF, and TPE. Particularly effective for sheet metal thicknesses of 4 mm and above.
